Personal Stories of the Survivors of the Peoria's Brain Injury Group   
 
 
We would love you to share the story about your brain injury.  Some might not be ready to share their story that ok.  Your story might just help someone who is facing the same circustance that you had to face. 
 
If you would like to have a photo of yourself to go alone with your story, please email your photo to lovestephan@hotmail.com .
 

When telling your story, please do give the name of others unless it is done in a good light, and a postive outlook towards them! 

 

 

 

Personal Stories Guidelines

A very good Guidelines to use when telling your story!

 

The Introduction: 

  • State your name

  • Your current age

  • Occupation at the time of your injury

  • Family status (married, with children, etc.)

  • Date of your injury

  • Age at the time of the injury

  • Circumstances of your injury

  • Discuss how you and your family felt at the time of the injury

      

 

 The Middle: 

  • Describe your hospitalization

  • Describe your rehabilitation experience

  • Highlight any major problems you had for example: problems with     insurance, stresses on your family, financial difficulties, etc.

  • Discuss problems accessing services you need

  • Discuss how you and your family feel about the problems

 

 The Wrap – up: 

  • Discuss how the injury has changed your life in terms of work, school, home and community

  • Highlight the services you still feel are needed in order to meet your personal recovery goals

  • Describe the impact of your injury on you and your family’s hopes and dreams

  • Describe how you and your family feel about the impact of your injury
