Community Mental Health Agencies are a major part of the state’s mental health system. Since the state does not provide outpatient mental health services, these necessary system components are provided by community agencies. The primary responsibility of community services is to help individuals maximize their potential and independence through an array of community-based services which are designed to maintain an individual with mental illness in his home and community and sustain an enhanced quality of life.
